Hi, my name is Robert Wessels and I am running for Maine Governor in 2026. I am running for governor because I believe in Maine. I firmly believe that we can lower taxes and turn this economy around. I am a huge advocate for personal FREEDOM, including the 1st and 2nd amendments. This won't be easy (most things worth doing aren't!), but it will be worth it! I have a phrase that I love to use: "choose your hard." Life is going to have its difficulties, but we have the option to choose to voluntarily do the hard things now, in order to avoid the extremely hard later in life. For example, we can get off the couch and be active now (hard), to avoid health related issues later in life (harder). For Maine, cutting our budget will be hard, but leaving it this high will be harder! Winning parental rights in our schools will be hard, but NOT winning those rights will be even harder! Turning the state around will be hard, but NOT turning it around will be even harder for all of us! We need a leader that is willing to look at the long-term and make the tough decisions, and I am up to the challenge! I am excited that you found this site and one more person that can get to know me. I hope you enjoy the process! The "Meet Robert" and "Platform" sections are a great place to start and don't forget to sign up for updates to stay up to date on what is going on with our movement!
Thanks again for coming, and please do not hesitate to reach out!

Robert Wessels interviewed on George Hale/Ric Tyler show 1.2.25
George Hale and Ric Tyler were the first big media that have reached out and wanted an interview with Robert. This was done when Robert Wessels was still the ONLY registered Republican candidate for the 2026 gubernatorial election. It was a short 15 minute interview, click the link to listen to it! Thank you to the GHRT show for giving a non-career politician a voice in our media today!
Happy New Years, Maine! (2025)
And just like that, a new year is upon us! 2025 is an opportunity to lay the groundwork to take back The Blaine House and chart a new course of prosperity and freedom for our state.
Maine has been stuck in a downward spiral of government control of our lives and our economy for far too long. New Year’s Day will mark another dark chapter where Maine workers and families will be burdened with yet another tax on their productivity at work with the new 1% tax increase taking effect.
Doing the same thing over and over again – electing politicians who push their ideologies and ideas that are so good they have to be mandatory, all on your dime –and expecting a different result is insanity. It is time to stop the madness. We’ve had enough and it’s time to take our state back!
I’ve seen news coverage asking who will be Maine’s next governor. I’ve seen no mention of our campaign, even though our campaign is the only one actually registered for the race. I wonder why that is? All I have seen are profiles of prominent politicians.
It’s time for change. I’m not a politician. I’m a family man, a Christian, and a normal Mainer with a real job working 40 plus hours a week just like many of you. It’s time for all of us to stand up and get involved. Good people from all over the political spectrum coming together to do right for each other and our state is the only way we have any chance of getting our state back on course.
2025 is going to be a huge year for the campaign! Tonight, as we welcome 2025 at the stroke of midnight, I am asking you to take that first step towards fixing things and get involved. I am asking you to donate to our campaign to help fund our growth. The
passion and principles are there; we just need your help to compete with the big politicians as they enter the race and tell you what you want to hear.
I’m Robert Wessels. I’m running for Governor and I’m asking for you to take that first step and join us.
Together we win.

Happy New Year, let’s make 2025 an AMAZING YEAR together!

Robert visited the Waldoboro Republican Committee meeting
On November 6th, I had a chance to visit the Waldoboro Republican Committee meeting and had a wonderful visit! I was able to meet a group of committed and active Republicans in Waldoboro that are making a significant difference in their town. They have increased the conservative viewpoint on the local school board over the recent years and were successful in lowering the tax burden on the rate payers by defeating a $81 million dollar bond this year. The meeting was fun and walked away energized by what they are accomplishing. We can do this Maine, let's STAND UP!
This meeting was advertised by the Lincoln County Republicans at: https://lincolncountyrepublicans.org/elections-1
Response to mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine
Senseless tragedies like the mass shooting in Lewiston will always cause us to reflect. We’ll reflect on our lives, our jobs and those that we love. Hopefully we allow that reflection to help make us better people. The knee-jerk response to an illegal act should not be to remove the rights of the law-abiding citizens. (click to read more)
